A newly created position, for an experienced individual to lead the development of their Asset Finance credit scorecards as well as providing general credit risk management support. Needing to identify the key data used to drive automated decisions and support the implementation of infrastructure required to support model-driven resolutions. Working with their Head of Credit, and acting as the bank’s subject matter expert for all scorecard decisioning. Liaising closely with their existing modelling team to build scorecards, data structures, bureau integration, and risk modelling. Also contributing to strategic improvements in credit efficiency, automation, with portfolio oversight. Someone with good leadership, communication and influence skills, with a good track record in asset finance scorecard development. Essential that applicants offer a sound working knowledge of credit policies, asset finance underwriting and risk management principles. Analyse credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit in mainly sales-aid leasing/flow business generally to £500k. Interpret internal and external credit reference agency, broker and market reports. Generate financial ratios, using internal credit tools, to evaluate financial status and where necessary undertake benchmarking to compare liquidity, profitability and credit history of customers within a similar industry and geographic locations. Prepare domestic and external risk reports. Review existing transactions periodically and regularly update their internal systems for risk monitoring. Make recommendations for the ongoing development of processes and practices. Preparation of credit papers for submission to Senior Credit Managers and Credit Risk. Ensure credit analysis of each proposal is appropriate for the level of any advance and provide guidance to the credit team and the wider SME business on credit policy and appetite. Deputise for Senior Credit Managers when required. Build effective relationships within SME Lending, the Bank and attend customer visits. Managing the full proposal process, covering credit and introducer applications from the point of receipt by Sales, through to the payout of the funding request as well as performing introducer reviews. Optimise the deal flow and ensure high levels of customer service, while also helping to maintain their robust risk culture. Managing Risk approvals for their Vendor and Introducer portfolio. Reviewing requests from Sales to onboard new introducers and increases to vendor programme limits. Ensure sufficient information on proposals, and check that these are within policy/appetite and suitably structured/priced. Candidates should have a strong ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders, collaborating with Sales to review deal pipeline and work with other internal departments (Asset Management/Legal/Collections). Well established specialist lending bank, strongly positioned in the broker-introduced business marketplace. They offer many USP’s in this competitive arena. They have solid growth plans, and now have a newly created underwriting position to support their growing business volumes. You would be working alongside a small experienced credit team to support the Head of Credit Asset Finance. Requires at least 3 years experience in a similar underwriting position, with good exposure to flow lending and the SME market. Knowledge of lending principles, credit analysis and underwriting methodologies for small ticket transactions. Managing and approving deals up to around £150k, but will also manage some larger applications, to say £500k. Main focus on business critical assets ie commercial vehicles, coaches, haulage, materials handling, machinery, and also including a fair proportion of high-end/classic car finance (Ferraris/ Porches etc). Building close relationships with brokers and customers. Ensuring the quality of new business proposals and their portfolio, with full compliance of lending policies, and delivering timely credit decisions. Applicants likely to be living around Hampshire/Berkshire, though good hybrid working is available.
